Suspected Bondi Beach Gunmen Acted Alone and Received No Instruction in the Southeast Asian Nation, Authorities State.

The two alleged attackers who carried out the fatal shooting at a Hanukkah event on Bondi Beach, resulting in 15 lives, are believed to have been lone actors, according to national authorities.

Investigators additionally revealed that Sajid Akram, 50, and his 24-year-old son Naveed Akram travelled to the Philippines on 1 November. Their itinerary involved landing in the main city Manila before transiting that same day to Davao City. The pair flew back to Sydney on 29 November.

Lack of Proof of Preparation During Visit

Authorities have stated the pair did not receive any form of attack-related instruction or "planning" during their time in the Philippines. Initial investigations from Philippine officials point to they "rarely left" their hotel.

The attack—described as Australia's deadliest mass shooting since 1996—has been officially designated a act of terrorism.

"We are actively analyzing the material," the commissioner stated, noting that early assessments suggest that "the two men are believed to have acted alone."

Australian Federal Police Chief Krissy Barrett told media on Tuesday that security camera video documenting the alleged gunmen's activities in the Philippines had been provided to Australian investigators.

"There is little to no indication to suggest these accused individuals were affiliated with a wider terrorist cell, or were acting on orders from external parties to execute an attack," Commissioner Barrett emphasized.

Naveed Akram, who was wounded after the attack, has been formally accused of 59 crimes. These include 15 charges of murder and one count of committing a act of terrorism. He is scheduled to face court in April.

In the wake following the attack, border authorities in the Philippines stated that the older suspect had arrived in the country using an Indian passport, while his son used an Australian passport.

The pair had declared the metropolis of Davao as their intended endpoint. Their pre-arranged return flight to Australia was for Sydney.
