Recent details have emerged about the shocking demises of acclaimed director Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered at their Brentwood, Los Angeles property on Sunday.

The Discovery

As detailed in an account citing a family associate, a massage therapist arriving for an session initially became concerned after not being able to enter the home. The therapist then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives in the vicinity.

After gaining access to the house, Romy discovered her father's body. Accounts indicate she then fled the house in anguish, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was also present. Another individual who had accompanied her contacted 911. Afterward, paramedics discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Legal Developments

Authorities have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, along with the alleged use of a deadly weapon, reportedly a knife. He is currently detained and is ineligible for bail.

Clarifications

The anonymous source challenged several initial details. They said that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a guesthouse on the grounds, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that moment.

The source also refuted widely reported notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "apprehensive" about Nick's conduct in the preceding period. Instead the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."

This refutation also extends to descriptions of reportedly "erratic" behavior by Nick at a event thrown by Conan O'Brien on the night before the discovery. Although the source noted they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they maintained that reports of a "major confrontation" between the two were not correct.

According to law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had still not confirmed as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts suggested the state of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for some hours.

Nick Reiner was arrested at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, about 15 miles from the family home. He was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not received medical clearance and would not appear until Wednesday or later.
